Cathy's 50s Housewife Friday. Getting my rollerskate on.

Yes it's that time of the week again. 50s Housewife Friday!!

Hope everyone is having an awesome day. It's gorgeous weather here in lovely downtown BrisVegas!

Drove the boys to their schools this morning as I was feeling incredibly lazy and had an awesome singalong to the first track of the day:

Motley Crue: Home Sweet Home

Oh Nikki Sixx I love you so!! Kisses to you, if ur reading this! (how awesome would that be, if he read this blog weekly, just to check in with what I'd been up to...Bec, can u find out if he does or not? Thanks - get back to me).

So am currently on the back deck in the sun typing this, sipping an icy diet coke and have just finished flipping through my Who mag. Things I have taken from this week's read are thus:

BETTY DETOX'S TOP 5 FACES I JUST DON'T EVER WANT TO SEE EVER AGAIN:

  1. Chris Brown. Just fuck off
  2. Rihanna - u too
  3. Lara Bingle - WTF and who the hell cares?
  4. Kim Kardashian and any related Kardashians - obviously
  5. Lindsay Lohan - see no. 3. Although would love to see Lynds on Dr Drewe's Celebrity Rehab - that would be awesome. She'd get on beautifully with Steve Adler from GnR :)

Track 2 in the car this morning:

Suicidal Tendences: Possessed to Skate

Such a great band. Sev hadn't heard them before! Well, I felt like a bad mother when he told me that...made up for it by following up with Trip to the Brain. All good.

On today's 50s Housewife Friday agenda:

Some vanilla and coconut cream cake pops for one of my BFF's birthday. Believe it or not, we're going rollerskating @ Stafford Skate Rink tonight to celebrate and I literally could not be more excited! I used to frequent Stafford Skate Rink when I was but a lass. We had our grade 6 and 7 Aspley East State School Balls there in the 80s (after those Bastards knocked down Cloudland where they were always held before :().

I have to say though that "The Deep" at Albany Creek was really our rollerskating home. Every Friday night for practically all of 83-87 me and my friends would tsunami into The Deep, grab a lemon lime slush puppy and hit the rink. Some of the funnest times ever! My first ever boyfriend, Craig Dyer, gave me a gold plated rollerskate on a gold chain for my 11th birthday and we were the coolest couple to ever hit Couples Skate. I can still remember that I was wearing a white fish tail skirt and a pink paisley top...nawww cute little kids.

Tonight I shall expect to hear "Wired for Sound" by Cliff Richard and "Run to Paradise" by the Choirboys.

Afterwards, a weekend of going nowhere and doing nothin but hanging out in the backyard with everyone's favourite 50s husband and 50s children and finishing off our awesome fort "Fort Skull", which now officially has a big skull attached to the front of it, and finishing up of vege garden which turned out to be soooo massive that I need 84,000 more bags of dirt to complete the MF. Will be lovely when it's done and I can start stuffing home grown organic goodness down everyone's throats. If you come over, bring a bag - believe me, there'll be plenty!

So better get my bake on and dust of my beloved speed skates...let's see what my Ipod wants to play last to send you off...

Ahhh great choice:

Betty Detox: Snatch

Have a great Friday y'all!!!

Cathy's 50s Housewife Friday.

Happy 50s Housewife Friday kids!!!

Have sooo much to do today!!

Am hosting 7 (possibly 8...) of my Grammar Girls at my new place tonight and am baking and cleaning up a storm.

I love these girls!! We have all known each other since we were 13 and have been getting together regularly since school ended. We stepped it up a notch and added a few new faces after our 10 year reunion in 2000, when old friendships and new alliances were ignited, and we make it a rule to hang out at least every couple of months. Usually with me hogging hosting duties.

Our nights together are full of good food, good wine, icy diet cokes (of course), great conversation, sneaky cigarettes, hysterical laughter, insane reminiscing, endearing heart to hearts and deep and meaningfuls and sometimes tissue wielding sob stories when shoulders are always there for crying on.

These guys have seen me through from freckled face blonde class clown to the raven haired domestic goddess that I aspire to be today and they haven't tired of me yet...

So to celebrate their obvious 'A' grade taste in friendship...A Reward!

How, I hear you say, is she going to reward them? What could possibly be the coolest and most awesome Cathy themed reward????

Huh? Huh?

DIET COKE CUPCAKES!!!!!!!!!!

No you didn't just imagine this...it's real and its happening in my kitchen - TODAY!!

Got my inspiration from Pinterest. Does everyone know about Pinterest?? If you don't then stay away!!! It'll take every little bit of spare time that you're not already wasting on Facebook and steal it forever!

The array of amazingness that awaits you in Pinterest land has literally changed my life...I wade through a sea of inspirational 'pins' everytime I go there and find treasure around every corner:

Drool worthy recipes, sexy smoking Johnny Depp, the downtown streets of New York (see u next April), Cake Pops, Cupcakes, Candy, my 1988 dream boyfriend Duff McKagan, fashion, photography, fantasy!

I run my own businesses (LITTLEmonsters Private Childcare and I Want Candy, a childrens events and party styling business, just to obnoxiously name drop myself) and the inspiration I get from Pinterest is priceless!!

If ur not addicted already, be warned!

Anyway back to my DC cupcakes...

Am gonna try them out and if they're any good I'll post the recipe next week with photos. Am also making strawberry and cream cake pops and black magic choc cake pops.

Also did I mention that some of the gals are bringing their kids?? Will be providing them with enough sugar from my candy filled apothecary jars to put them in a diabetic coma for the rest of the weekend, while Xavier gets to show off his new trampoline....better get off my ass and get busy, yo.

First track of the day?

Pop Will Eat Itself - Everythings Cool

I would have to say that I agree

Dos dedos mis Amigos!

Cathy's 50s Housewife Friday. And hell yeah to cake pops!

Happy 50s Housewife Friday!!!

Hope everyone has had an awesome week!

Don't have much time to write as I've been baking like a psycho today, have many birthday pop requests and some 'thank you' pops for a special gal for me to deliver tomorrow.

Choc coconut with choc ganache pops vs red velvet with cream cheese frosting pops...can I get a 'Hell Yeah!'.

I was also going to tell y'all a fascinating tale about hitting the KFC Drive-thru last night with the fam only to be told that they had no chicken but then I decided against it...

First track of the day: David Bowie 'Modern Love'.

Possibly my favourite Bowie tune, if I'm force to name a favourite.

'Gets me to the church on time...'

Not me, I was an hour late :)

Am heading out tonight with one of my fav gals to see Snow White and the Huntsmen purely so I can perve on Chris Hemsworth so shall finish getting my bake on and get myself ready to hit the Barracks.

Have a great Friday everyone!

Till next week...

50s Housewife Friday

‎50's Housewife Friday's playlist began with Skid Row - Skid Row. Rad album!

Scared Xavier in the car on our way to school with my sing-along excellence of I Remember You......he seemed eager to get out of the car...

Next, listen to 2 Madonna records while baking nutella chocolate cake for cake pops and some choc chip cupcookies for tomorrow's hangout with some of our fav peeps, all the while carrying on a 3 1/2hr phone convo with my brother in Ireland.

And I rang him....if I had a 50's husband, he'd kill me!

See you next Friday!

Introducing Cathy's 50s Housewife Friday

I mentioned earlier this week that I was excited about introducing some regular features by my fellow bloggers and I am so happy to announce the first of what we hope will be many 50s Housewife Friday's.

Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss a moment of how our goth rock goddess transforms herself every Friday to a somewhat stereotypical traditional housewife...with a twist, of course, as unique as Cathy herself!

I just hope she's stayed away from the cooking sherry...

Personally I have a sneaking suspicion I'd make a lousy 50s housewife. After reading the guide below, I think only with copious amounts of Xanax would I be able to get through a single day.
